Security services
Campus Security provides safety and security services across UBC, maintaining a visible presence and reliable response while taking a people first approach to supporting students, faculty, staff, and visitors across campus.
Proactive patrols
Our Patrol Officers take a proactive approach to supporting a safe campus community. They are regularly walking, biking, or driving around campus to maintain a visible presence and engage the community. All patrol teams work to uphold university policies and procedures with preventative strategies, playing an essential role in campus safety.
Alarm and incident response
Patrol Officers are dispatched to attend incidents notified by the community or by alarm systems installed by UBC Community Safety. While they are not police officers or special constables and do not replace emergency services, Patrol Officers work closely with first responders and campus partners to ensure appropriate escalation and coordinated response when necessary.
First aid
Team members are equipped to provide first aid and emergency support as part of their operational responsibilities and maintain specialized training based on assignment and experience.
Safewalk
Available 24 hours, every day of the week, our team is always present to accompany you if you feel unsafe or vulnerable traveling alone within the UBC Vancouver Campus.
Static site security
Campus Security provides a dedicated on-site presence at locations with specific operational or security requirements. Officers are assigned where a consistent security presence is needed to support site operations, manage access, and ensure established procedures and safety requirements are followed.
