Campus Security renews identity as UBC Community Safety

UBC Campus Security on the Vancouver Point Grey campus has been renamed UBC Community Safety. This renewed identity reflects its broader and evolving role in supporting a safe and welcoming campus environment.

Over the past few years, Campus Security underwent a comprehensive review of its service model and engaged extensively with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Feedback from these consultations highlighted both strengths and challenges in how Campus Security services were experienced and understood, and this input directly informed our renewed identity. The shift to ‘UBC Community Safety’ represents more than a name and visual change. It reflects a broader transformation towards a proactive and community-centred model that emphasizes prevention, partnership and meaningful engagement.

UBC Community Safety now operates through four integrated service streams: Community Safety Operations, Systems and Technology, Strategic Program Delivery, and Threat Management that work together to prevent harm, respond to incidents, and support a safe and welcoming campus environment. This includes first aid, security services, event safety planning, personal safety planning, access control, and safety and security cameras. Learn more about our services

What to expect

Over the coming months, the UBC community will begin to see changes to our departmental naming, visual identity, and physical and digital spaces, including uniforms, signage, vehicles, and digital platforms, all designed to make our services more accessible and responsive. While UBC Community Safety is our official name, Campus Security will continue to appear across campus as it remains an operational function within the department and is required for regulatory and compliance purposes.

At UBC Community Safety, we believe that building connections is what makes our community stronger. Your input has helped shape our direction forward and will continue to guide how we refine and apply our new identity to ensure it supports your needs.

We would love to continue hearing your feedback. Contact us and share your feedback.
